Getting Dressed Is a Spell (the Overhead Light Is a Demon and Cannot Be Trusted)

Getting dressed is a spell. I don’t do it to be perceived but because the way I put myself together in the morning is the first intentional act of my day.

People frame fashion as vanity and I find that genuinely baffling. Vanity implies performance for an audience. This is something else. It’s closer to armour. It’s closer to intention-setting. It also happens to be a bloody good time, which I think is allowed.

The ritual of it is the point. Choosing the pieces, getting the eyeliner right, deciding what energy you’re carrying into the day and dressing to match it. That’s not shallow. That’s witchcraft with a wardrobe.

The overhead light, for what it’s worth, is a demon and cannot be trusted. Do your makeup by a window or accept chaos.
